The EU has adopted a set of governmental standards for reduction of the use of hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipment. This standard is called RoHS, and when the ex cathedra RoHS Directive came down, it was missing a little crucial piece of information — how manufacturers, distributors, and purchasers of parts could communicate to each other the RoHS status of every part. More
