“Advanced Micro Devices said it has begun offering microprocessors with reduced lead content to worldwide customers, complying with a European Union directive that restricts the use of lead by electronics manufacturers. That directive, the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation, takes effect July 1, 2006. AMD began offering RoHS-compliant processors earlier this month including the AMD Operton, AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon 64 X2, AMD 64 FX, AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology and AMD Sempron families of processors.
